Ozeki Kotozakura participated in the joint training session of the
Nishonoseki Ichimon at his Sadogatake beya in Matsudo City, Chiba
Prefecture on the 7th. He was 4-16  against Yokozuna Oonosato . He was
often overwhelmed by the Yokozuna's pressure, but he also showed strength
by moving forward from the tachiai. Although he had a significantly losing
record, he reflected, "The win-loss record is what it was, but in terms of
content, it was the kind of sumo that could lead to a win." Due to a left
ankle injury, he did not participate in keiko during the summer jungyo in
August. He was wearing tape on his ankle today and seemed concerned about
the injured area, but after the keiko he was able to walk around without
any problems.

Tamawashi (41), Juryo 3E, was also at the joint training session of the
Nishonoseki Ichimon. In the keiko with the sekitori, he showed his presence
by going 6-2 against Ichiyamamoto, Gounoyama, Kotoshouhou, Takanoshou,
Ouhou, and Kotoeihou. He worked hard, sweating profusely, using powerful
throat thrusts to bend his opponents into bows and pushing forward even
when doing yotsuzumo. He said, "I'll keep working hard little by little,"
and despite his 6-2 record, he didn't let his guard down, saying, "Everyone
hasn't shown their full strength yet." At the Nagoya tournament, he was
ranked in Juryo for the first time in 13 years, but he won 9 matches and
returned to a rank where he can see himself returning to Makuuchi.  At Aki,
one more win would tie him with Aminishiki (now Ajigawa Oyakata) in total
wins, and eight wins would tie him with Wakanosato (now Nishiiwa Oyakata),
who is 7th all-time. The "Iron Man," who will celebrate his 42nd birthday
on November 16th during the Kyushu Bashot, aims to return to Makuuchi while
opening the door to new records.
