Yokozuna Houshouryuu's entering the basho will remain uncertain until the
very last minute, said his Oyakata today. "He can't participate unless he's
completely recovered. His condition hasn't changed. We'll see how he's
doing until the very last minute," indicating that the decision will be
made on the morning of the 11th when the torikumi making meeting will be
held. At the YDC soken he only lent his chest to Atamifuji but did not
participate in any bouts with Ozeki or higher. The Oyakata revealed, "I
told him that he should participate because it was an event held by the
YDC, and that he should feel the atmosphere." Today, Houshouryuu visited
the heya in the morning before heading to the hospital. "He said he was in
pain. When he competes, he needs to be in good enough shape to win the
yusho," summed Tatsunami Oyakata.
