In Tokyo, you should go to the Sumo Arena (Ryogoku Kokugikan). It's just
outside of the Ryogoku Train Station. They have a Sumo museum there as well
as a gift shop. I believe it's free (and open) during non-tournament days.
On the other side of the train station is a bunch of Chanko Nabe shops as
well as one inside the station. Some have the names of former Rikishi
attached to it. The one inside the station is associated with former Ozeki
Kirishima. As for Sumo stables, former Seikiwake, Yoshikaze has one in that
same area. Nakamura beya is at 1-18-7 Ryogoku. I'm not sure about how to go
about observing a practice session. Just use Google maps to find
everything.John IgeGet BlueMail for DesktopKarine Fong wrote: Hi everyone!
I'm a longtime lurker in the group and will be headed to Japan (Kyoto and

happening while I'm there, but I'd like to try to see some sort of sumo
that's not the touristy entertainment shows. Is the public able to go to
sumo stables to observe training, etc? If so, does anyone have any
suggestions as to how to go about doing that? I'd also love to try
chankonabe too! Finally, are there any other 'don't-miss' sumo things to
see or do while in the Tokyo area? Thank you in advance!!! :) Karine Hi
