Good to see sumo in this new Indian film.

Yoshinori Tashiro, who plays the sumo role, is a former Tamanoi beya rikishi whose shikona was Tooyama.

He (often with former Dewanoumi beya rikishi, Sato) performs in films, advertisements and sumo displays in Japan and abroad. The pair did some sumo shows at the Gold Coast in Australia last year. It seems he is making a successful career and promoting sumo
worldwide.

I’m not sure about the description of him as sumo wrestling champion though, unless that signifies his role in the film. He got as high as makushita 23. Perhaps he was a champion while at Meiji university, but his only championship win in Ozumo was a jonokuchi
yusho.
