The rikishi-kai (meeting of all sekitori) was held today at the Kokugikan.
Takayasu revealed that his left leg injury "seems to be okay." He injured
his left leg during keiko against  Ura on August 24th during the summer
jungyo in Kumagaya, Saitama. He had been absent from competition since the
25th due to a "left adductor muscle injury." He explained that he has
resumed keiko, stating, "I can do shiko now." Looking ahead to the Aki
Basho, he said he "seems to be okay," but added, "I need to be careful not
to get too carried away."

Wakatakakage who underwent surgery on his left leg, was also in attendance
at the rikishi-kai today. He explained that his recovery is progressing
well. He won his second yusho at the Natsu basho and returned to Sekiwake
at the Nagoya basho , but injured his left thigh during practice on July
1st. He was diagnosed with femoral compartment syndrome and underwent
emergency surgery, which led to his hospitalization. He missed the entire
previous tournament. Regarding the injury, he recalled, "The pain was
extremely severe. At first, I waited to see if the pain would subside, but
it didn't." He revealed, "The doctor told me that every second counted.
Surgery was the only option. I underwent emergency surgery without knowing
the condition of my leg." He explained that during the first surgery, "the
bleeding wouldn't stop, and I was told it was dangerous." He underwent
repeated surgeries, and the wound was left open for a week. He dropped to
the rank of  Maegashira 12E for the Aki basho. Regarding his return date,
he went for a cautious approach, saying, "It's undecided." On this day, he
was seen smiling and chatting, and even showed his left leg to Ozeki
Kirishima while they talked. "I'm able to do more things now, and I'm
making progress little by little. I'll heal properly and do my best," he
vowed, promising to recover.

At the rikishi-kai today, Yokozuna Houshouryuu  revealed that he "won't
really know until the last minute" whether he will participate in the Aki
basho . He injured his right knee during the Nagoya tournament and withdrew
from the tournament on the 14th day. After returning to Tokyo, he underwent
surgery to repair his ligament on July 29th and was hospitalized for a
week. More than a month has passed, and he explained that he has "improved
considerably." After the surgery, he said he lost 15 kilograms from his
original weight of 150 kilograms, confessing, "It dropped to 135 kilograms,
but after being discharged from the hospital and exercising, I regained the
15 kilograms." He recalled, "The doctors at the hospital told me that my
recovery was much faster than average. Even the doctors were surprised." He
revealed that he hadn't been able to do shiko until August, but "I started
doing it again today. It's been a while since I did it, so it felt a little
strange. My muscles have dropped quite a bit, so I need to get them back to
normal." Regarding the opening day on the 13th, he said, "I won't know
until the very last minute. I want to enter." Regarding participating in
the YDC soken on the 4th, he only said that he would "discuss it with my
Oyakata and decide."
