Yokozuna Houshouryuu will be competing in the Nagoya basho (starting on the
12th at IG Arena), his Oyakata Tatsunami said today. "He has been training
with the intention of competing. I hope he can somehow manage to do his
best for all 15 days," he said. He will be aiming for his first yusho as a
Yokozuna in his ninth tournament since his promotion. Houshouryuu, who
withdrew from the previous tournament on the second day due to a right
hamstring injury, has been training at Sakaigawa beya and Takasago beya for
three days from the 6th to increase his training pace. He finished degeiko
yesterday and spent today resting.
Yokozuna Oonosato, who is aiming to make a comeback after missing two
consecutive tournaments due to a left shoulder injury, held a morning keiko
session today at Nishonoseki beya in Anjo City, Aichi Prefecture, which was
closed to the press. According to sources, he did sumo and other stuff.
