A yusho parade for Aonishiki, who won his third yusho after three bashos at
the last Nagoya basho, will be held on September 6th in Koto Ward, Tokyo,
as announced on the official website of Ajigawa beya on the 21st. According
to the announcement, the parade is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. It will
depart from near the Senda Police Box and proceed along Museum Street to
Ajigawa beya. The heya is calling for "your warm support!" According to a
heya official, this will be the first time that a victory parade for
Aonishiki will be held on a separate day after the tournament. The reason
given for holding the parade is that he won the yusho while harboring an
injury and has secured his return to the rank of Ozeki. While detailed
discussions are still ongoing, it is planned that Aonishiki will ride alone
in a rickshaw, with two people walking in front of him.

Shishi held an asa-geiko session at his heya in Sumida Ward, Tokyo, on the
21st. He has been absent from the summer jungyo due to a torn rotator cuff
in his left shoulder and a dislocated front tooth. On this day, he worked
up a sweat with tubes and basic exercises such as suriashi and abdominal
exercises. As the heya-gashira, he also actively guided the younger
rikishi, calling out to them. Regarding the condition of his left shoulder,
he explained, "It's getting better. Right now, I'm focusing on my legs.
Little by little, little by little." His Oyakata Ikazuchi added, "He's
doing rehabilitation every day." He indicated that he hopes to resume sumo
practice "after the banzuke is announced." He underwent surgery on his left
shoulder after the summer tournament. The Nagoya tournament was a "trial by
fire" as he had only resumed sumo practice four days before the first day.
Nevertheless, he won six consecutive matches from the first day. He was
also in contention for the yusho and enlivened the tournament with a record
of 10 wins and 5 losses. Having gone 6-9 in both the Spring and Summer
Bashos, he said, "I didn't want to have a makekoshi for three tournaments
in a row. I was desperate." He smiled as he said of Nagoya, "I've only had
a makekoshi there once, so I like it. It was a good tournament." On the
other hand, he suffered consecutive losses in the last three days. "I
wanted to get at least one win," he reflected.

The 12th was his Oyakata's 48th birthday. When asked if he had done
anything to celebrate, Shishi broke into a smile and said, "You'll have to
ask my Oyakata about that. It's a little embarrassing to say it myself."
The Oyakata  revealed with a smile, "I got a bag that I've wanted for a
long time. I'm happy about that." His eldest son, Kakizoe (18), who joined
the heya in April, also congratulated him for the first time as a deshi,
and the Oyakata reflected, saying, "I think it must have felt a little
strange for him."
